This awareness might come in the shock of loss, a betrayal, a devastating diagnosis, an accident, a natural disaster, or a feeling that the status quo has become unbearable. But you don’t have a clue about what is next, or how you will go on, or who you will become, or even how to go through this death and rebirth process.
We will face dragons and meet guides along the way, but we also need “containers” that can hold us as we make this soulful journey. You are not alone. This is an individual and universal calling towards the evolution of life and consciousness.

Pachamama’s Daughter
In the time after Loss
I found myself.
Not whole, like a fully formed symphony,
melodic tunes tumbling ecstatically, one note at a time,
into a coherent harmony,
Or an emergence of exquisite shape carved from rock
already itself.
But as pieces scattered, broken, among weeds
surviving where no water has come for a very long time.
I pick my pieces up
here and there
There is no pattern to reference to.
My hands bleed from my jagged edges.
Colors, shapes emerge, mingled with blood that is only mine.
I lay all that is me, tenderly, upon you.
I whisper your name…
Pachamama
I am your daughter.
I have been lost.
My tears make pools in your deep brown dirt.
Piece by piece, each part of me
Sinks into your soft mud belly.
Worms eat me for food
Insects make a home of me
New life creeps and burrows into my
empty places.
What was rotten becomes nectar
What was decayed becomes compost
What was broken is a mosaic of shape and texture.
Right here, right now
I surrender.
New life has its way with me.
My pain becomes a tapestry of miracles.

About Theresa Holleran, LCSW:
Theresa has been a Depth Psychotherapist, teacher, and facilitator for almost 50 years. She has taught graduate courses in Transpersonal Psychology, Eco-psychology, and Process Work, and has co-created national and international retreats and sacred journeys in both urban and wilderness settings on themes of embodied healing and transformation, suffering, wisdom and resilience, gender, ecology, and spirituality, and the Sacred Inner Marriage. She currently works with individuals, relationships, groups, and communities in her private group practice at Mountain Lotus Counseling in Salt Lake City. Her work is predicated on knowing that each person has an inherent destiny that can be revealed through the exploration of the unconscious and its effects on consciousness and that personal individuation is directly tied to the fate of our planet.
