Sometimes we are hurled by devastating and unforeseen life circumstances into the chrysalis. Sometimes the call comes from the still small voice within. And sometimes it comes from the insistent lamentations from those parts of us that are longing, depressed, anxious, grieving, and devastatingly lonely.

“Without an understanding of myth … without an understanding of the relationship between destruction and creation, death and rebirth, the individual suffers the mysteries of life as meaningless mayhem.” – Marion Woodman

Our world is teetering on madness and annihilation. Yet, there are moments of astounding beauty, inspiration, and hope. Living this paradox is our invitation to find the rituals and containers that can hold us as the old forms are disintegrating.

“It is the twilight zone between the past and the future that is the precarious world of transformation within the chrysalis. Individuals who accept the chrysalis have accepted a life/death paradox, a paradox which returns in a different form at each new spiral of growth. If we accept this paradox, we are not torn to pieces by what seems to be intolerable contradiction. Birth is the death of the life we have known. Death is the birth of the life we have yet to live.” – Marion Woodman

Together, we will move through an experiential evening of myth, dreaming, storytelling, poetry, lecture, and dialogue as we explore the mysterious call to enter the chrysalis and initiate the transformational journey. We will illuminate the archetypal pattern of this journey trusting that each of us has an inherent drive towards wholeness, integration, and transformation.

“The cave you fear to enter, holds the treasure you seek.” – Joseph Campbell

Like the caterpillar, may each of us and the citizens of our world heed the call, surrender, and find our way into the new life.
