“Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” – Carl Jung
The existential threats of climate change, ecological collapse, and social unrest threaten the 6th mass extinction on planet earth. What can one person do to affect change? Ian C. Williams suggests a foundational aim: self-actualization.
Join us for our first immersive evening of Season 16 as we explore the depths of our inner terrain: the primary landscape that charts a path from personal to planetary transformation. Solutions at scale begin with individuals organizing themselves, and that process begins within the soils of Self.
At the age of 24, a single mystical experience changed Ian’s life forever. The subsequent journey of recovery and self-discovery led him to an insight: the only way out is in. This single philosophy guides his life and work.
Ian founded Still Point Insight to help mission-driven organizations scale solutions to global challenges. He is the author of Soil & Spirit: Seeds of Purpose, Nature’s Insight & the Deep Work of Transformational Change. The book has been featured in Forbes, and been compared to seminal works such as The Four Agreements and Braiding Sweetgrass.
Ian cherishes time with his wife. When needed, he blows off steam by running long distances, enduring mind-body practices, and disappearing into the boreal forests of Minnesota.
Ian’s book, Soul & Spirit, will be available for purchase and signing after the talk.
Returning poet Rachel White is the author of a chapbook,The Velvet Earth after Rain, published by Moon in the Rye Press and Utah’s poet laureate, Lisa Bickmore. She is a co-founder and editor of The Nomad, a nonprofit literary magazine dedicated to writers. You can view a video version of the poem she will share here. Website | Instagram
Featured Local Artist: Alison Hill Spencer
Alison’s hope is that her portraits invite you to really see a small handful of the hundreds of remarkable, beautiful species of birds that depend on Utah’s lakes and the “messy”, marshy lands surrounding them. She earned her Bachelors of Fine Art at Utah Valley University in 2023. Alison resides in the foothills of Utah with her husband, five children, and two dogs, where she enjoys hiking and exploring with all of them, while painting and writing on her own.
